American companies are stepping up to fill the gap, and they are doing it in a way that opens doors for the communities the NPRCC champions. One example comes from AEP member Meta. Yesterday, the company launched America's Workforce Academy, a no-cost program that trains people for the skilled trades jobs the AI economy demands. Participants get a free five-week bootcamp, including housing and airfare, and a guaranteed job offer with one of Meta's contractor partners once they finish.

Graduates earn industry-recognized credentials and certificates they can carry to any employer, in any sector. The skills taught (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fiber installation) are in demand far beyond data centers. The program launches in four states: Ohio, Louisiana, Texas, and Indiana. By removing the cost barrier, it opens this opportunity to the workers and small-business communities the NPRCC serves every day.

The National Urban League is a partner in this effort. Its President and CEO, Marc Morial, called it a bold, inclusive investment that removes cost barriers and guarantees employment, helping build a more equitable workforce for the future.

As highlighted in American Edge's 50-State AI Scorecard, built in partnership with TECNA, the states that attract AI investment and build strong talent pipelines are best positioned to capture the economic benefits of the AI economy.
